Announcing The Paris Review Visiting Professor of Literature

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the establishment of the Paris Review Visiting Professorship at BPI.

A unique partnership between our college and America’s preeminent literary quarterly, this professorship establishes a position at BPI for a distinguished writer—selected from a shortlist put forward by the Review—to share prose and poetry that have inspired them, in an intimate seminar setting.

To begin the celebration of the Bard Prison Initiative’s 25th year, BPI is announcing a series of major additions to our academic program, faculty, and college community. In January, we announced the establishment and endowment of the Justus Rosenberg Chair for the Study of the Thought and Legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Paris Review Visiting Professorship continues that effort to build a full-time core BPI faculty as ambitious as the students they serve.

Nominations for the 2024–25 academic year are being accepted here through the end of March. Anyone may nominate a distinguished writer who has an interest in the position for the award; writers are also free to nominate themselves. The inaugural Paris Review Visiting Professor will be announced in May.
