Thursday 2/11: Hancy Maxis ’15

Hancy will speak about his work in public health and hospital administration. Bard Prison Initiative alumnus Hancy Maxis received his B.A. 2015 and worked as a Writing Fellow for Bard at BPL and a Public Health Fellow at BPI before moving on to pursue graduate work at Columbia University where he received his Master’s in Health Administration in 2020. He currently works as a project manager at New York’s largest hospital system, Montefiore Medical Center, where he helps guide the hospital’s response to COVID-19.  He is dedicated to raising the standards of healthcare for vulnerable populations and encourages others to relentlessly pursue their professional dreams.

Thursday 2/25: Nicole Counts

Nicole Counts will talk about her work in publishing. Nicole is a Senior Editor at One World, an imprint of Random House, where she works with Fatimah Asghar, Morgan Parker, Kali Fajardo-Anstine, Donovan X. Ramsey, Brittany Packnett, Danielle Geller and Gabi Burnham among others. She started her career in marketing and publicity at PublicAffairs and Nation Books. She is a freelance writer as well as a facilitator and mentor with Girls Write Now, a mentor with Representation Matters Mentorship Program, and a member of POC inpublishing. A Jersey native and Philly lover, she lives in Brooklyn.
