Jennifer Martinez ’24

​​Jennifer Martinez ’24 is a graduate of the Bard Prison Initiative, having obtained an AA in liberal arts. In 2024, she went on to earn a BA in Politics and Human Rights from Marymount Manhattan College. She was released in August of 2024 after serving four and a half years. Jennifer is currently the full-time tutor for the Bard Microcollege in Harlem. Having experienced higher education while incarcerated, Jennifer has lived through the transformative power of college-in-prison programs serving as a catalyst for correcting the dehumanizing effects of the carceral system. Jennifer is currently exploring options for a graduate program in Sociology.
